In the wake of the one year anniversary of Hurricane Helene, each of us carries a story. A story of challenge, recovery, healing, and resilience. As a way to preserve those stories the college has created an initiative for an oral history project called Voices of Resilience: The Helene Collection. This project invites students, faculty, and staff to share these personal experiences. Together, we hope to create an authentic record that future generations can learn from while providing space for reflection and healing in the present.

Participation is completely voluntary. Whether you choose to submit a short video, share photographs, or sit down for an interview, the heart of this project is authenticity-- your story, in your words.

Ways to Share Your Story:

  • Digital submission: Complete this form to upload a short video (3 minutes or less) and any photographs.
  • On-campus interview/Drop-in sessions: Indicate your interest in the form, and we will schedule a time at any campus location convenient for you or share the drop in session information.

Submissions will be accepted throughout September and October 2025. Selected stories will be highlighted on social media later this month, and contributions will be submitted for consideration in the Library Archives at Blue Ridge Community College as part of The Helene Collection.

Your story matters—not just for today, but for the generations who will look back to understand how this community faced the storm and moved forward together.
